Renowned South African media personality, Anele Mdoda, has officially addressed the swirling rumors surrounding her relationship status following viral images that led many to believe she had secretly tied the knot.

The 40-year-old powerhouse — known for her roles as a television presenter, radio host, producer, businesswoman, and author — took to her radio show Anele and the Club to set the record straight.

“I’m not married. What you witnessed on social media was not a wedding. It is the final instalment of lobola being paid to my family from my fiancé’s family. He is my fiancé, not my husband yet,” she said, clearing the air with her signature honesty and charm.

The man in question is Prince Bonelela Ngubengcuka, and the couple has been spotted together in recent months, sparking public excitement. While fans rushed to offer congratulations assuming a wedding had taken place, Mdoda gently reminded everyone of the cultural significance of the lobola process and emphasized that a white wedding or civil ceremony has not yet occurred.

Born on May 19, 1984, and raised in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, Anele holds a degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Pretoria. She began her broadcasting career at the age of 20 as a radio DJ and has since become one of South Africa’s most influential media figures.

With a successful career spanning radio and television, Anele continues to inspire many — especially young women — with her authenticity and strong voice both on air and off. This latest clarification once again proves she’s not only in control of her narrative, but that she values transparency with her loyal audience.
