Maskandi Star Menzi Mabizela Survives Horrific Car Crash, Escapes with Minor Injuries

Menzi Mabizela car accident

Renowned South African Maskandi music artist, Menzi Mabizela, aged 27, was recently involved in a frightening motor vehicle accident that left his car severely damaged. The incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, 30 April 2025, and images of the wrecked vehicle—including a shattered windscreen—have been circulating on social media, alarming fans and fellow musicians alike.

Thankfully, despite the severity of the crash, Menzi Mabizela escaped with only minor injuries and did not require emergency medical treatment. His fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the artist has personally confirmed his well-being.

Taking to his official Facebook account, Menzi reassured everyone with a message in isiZulu:

“Ukhona futhi uyaphila, akalutholanga uphuthu.”
Loosely translated, it means: “He is alive and well, and didn’t receive even a scratch.”

While the cause of the accident is still under investigation and no official report has been released yet, Menzi’s statement has brought comfort to the many supporters who were worried about his condition. His calm and grateful tone reflects a resilient spirit that fans have long admired in both his music and personal life.

The accident serves as a reminder of how quickly life can change, and how precious safety is, especially for artists who spend much of their time on the road. Menzi Mabizela continues to recover at home and is expected to return to his musical activities soon.

Recall that the South African Maskandi community is in mourning following the tragic loss of two influential female figures, Dumisile Manana Mthalane and Zamaweza “Zuluglamour” MaMthalane, who passed away within days of each other. Dumisile, the powerful lead vocalist of the iconic Maskandi group Imithente, died on Saturday, 27 April 2025, after a short illness. Her voice and presence had become synonymous with the evolution of Maskandi music, earning her a place as one of the genre’s most respected artists. Just days prior, Zamaweza MaMthalane, a celebrated Ukhozi FM presenter known for her vibrant hosting of the Maskandi show, succumbed to complications related to meningitis following a two-week struggle. Fondly called Zuluglamour, she was a cherished media personality who used her platform to uplift traditional artists and connect them with the broader public. The loss of both women in such a short span has sent shockwaves through the music and media industries, marking a painful moment in the history of traditional isiZulu music. Their voices, both on stage and on air, helped shape the cultural narrative, and their absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of fans, colleagues, and the entire nation.

We join the rest of Mzansi in wishing Menzi full healing and strength as he bounces back from this traumatic experience.
